I spoke to Jane and Ramona had a long busy day today. Lots of visitors as more family has come into town and I know it was a busy day for Jane and Andy as well.
As Ann wrote the closure of her surgery site went well and Ramona is holding her own.
Today’s technical details:
Her oxygen saturation has been in the high 80’s – low 90’s which is good. She is totally off her epinephrine and the nitric oxide (used to dilate her arteries) is at ½ what she was getting. They are weaning her off the heart stimulants and continue to lower the amount of oxygen she is getting through the ventilator. They have increased her pain medications to help her with the increased pain from the closure of the surgery site and they check her every hour to see how she is doing with that. I am continually amazed at how God created the human body. They can check her eyes every hour and know if she is in pain by the dilation. Even in her sleep she can tell us what she is feeling. Yesterday I wrote that Ramona had an elevated white blood cell count and that she was acidodic. The good new is that her cultures came back negative which means no infection! Please continue to pray for protection against infection.

Jane and I spoke about some of the thoughts that bring them comfort. To them the most horrible thing that could have happened would have been if Ramona died on the operating table. Praise God she made it through that. Now, every moment since is a blessing to them.
The look at this time like it is a pregnancy of sorts. Ramona’s form is hidden from them, her eyes, her voice yet she is getting all she needs. Their prayer is to meet her once again, like a new born child.

The doctors and nurses have made it very clear to Jane and Andy that it will be weeks perhaps months before Ramona would be able to come home with them. This is the beginning of a marathon for all of them.

“1…and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith..” Hebrews 12:1-2

As those who love them, let us be the community that supports them along the way.

Jane and Andy are checking this web site regularly. Please feel free to make comments on any of the updates knowing it helps them to hear from you.

11Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. 1Thes 5:11

Please continue to lift them up in prayer.
