…But you’re gonna have to use the roof rack. Now that Ramona is a free-wheeling baby on Rumaire we can take her all sorts of places we couldn’t before. So Andy and I have decided to pack up the whole kit and caboodle and head to Michigan for a mini vacay. I have just started to compile a list of things needed for this “getaway” and am starting to feel like maybe we should just jack up the whole house and hit the road double-wide style.

When people tell me, “Children are such a blessing”, I sometimes find it a bit trite. Like some kind of pollyanna brainwashing to get people to buck up and stop complaining about all the things about parenting that don’t make it into Mother’s Day cards. Like open heart surgery. Or methadone withdrawal.

They’ve just completed rounds and it looks like if they can get the paperwork done Ramona is coming home today! She just needs a chest X-ray and her discharge orders. We don’t even have her carseat here, we took it home thinking we wouldn’t need it for awhile. Wrong again.

I’ve gotten bunches of requests for pictures of Ramona. I’ve been hesitant because Ramona has been looking like something out of Naked Lunch for a few days. She’s a narcotics junky. But this morning she seemed pretty with it, so here you go…

I am shocked. At just four days post-op, we are being sent to the cardiac floor. This is great news and means Ramona might be just days away from coming home with us.
