I just got a call from Jane with this update. The surgeons were able to go in and repair the aneurism with a gortex patch. They made the decision not to attempt the shunt on her RPA (Right Pulmonary Artery). Instead they have sliced open the LPA which is the smaller of the two. That is now patched open to encourage the other artery to grow. This is more helpful than the shunt on the Right would have been.

They found that the LPA (Left Pulmonary Artery) measured 3mm today which is an increase from the 1.25 it measured in at during February’s surgery. When they took her off heart/lung bypass her sats were in the low 80’s. For those of you keeping score they were in the low 40’s after her first surgery. Go Ramona go!
Ramona’s heart is beating on its own and right now they are working on controlling the bleeding from the sutures. Jane should be able to see her in a few hours.

Looking ahead they plan to keep Ramona on the Paralytic for about a day and will then begin to wean her off. Then they wean her off the ventilator etc etc.

Jane feels very encouraged that they were able to, not only do the repair, but that they were able to do a little extra to help her out and encourage her arteries to grow.

She and Andy plan to sleep and home tonight and get some well needed rest. Ramona will be in dream land in good hands in the PICU.

Thank you all for your continued prayers. Please pray for a speedy, smooth recovery for Ramona Mae!

God Bless
