Update

Ramona’s appointment with her pediatrician was yesterday. Here’s what we found out:
– Ramona has not gained any weight in the last week. This could be due to a number of factors. Her caloric intake has not been increased since the surgery despite having grown, so she may just need more calories. Also, she’s had a cold for over a week now and has been throwing up a lot. We’ve increased her caloric intake and are hoping the cold will clear up soon.
– The doctor said that he could hear flow and backwash in Ramona’s branching pulmonary arteries! Previously they could hear turbulence in her main pulmonary, but now they are detecting in further on. They seemed excited about this.
– On Tuesday Jane took Ramona to the hospital for some blood work and today they called to say that they found “critical” levels of potassium in her blood. This could be a fluke or a sign of a greater problem so Jane and Ramona are on their way back to the hospital for another blood draw.

I am sorry you have another worry (although that is great news about hearing turbulence in a new area. Perhaps it means the flow is increasing!)
I did read this online:
t is easy to obtain inaccurate measurements of your blood potassium levels. It’s very likely that your blood sample has been “hemolyzed,” where the pressure of drawing blood into a vial or syringe breaks open the delicate walls of red blood cells. These cells leak their concentrated amounts of potassium into the plasma and other parts of blood, so hemolyzation will give false high potassium readings. For this reason, elevated potassium levels may be difficult to dermine without further medical attention.”
I hope the blood draw is not too traumatic for either of you and you have normal levels this time.

Well our girl is keeping us on our toes in the prayer department, isn’t she? I am lifting up prayers of thanksgiving over the “turbulence” (that’s a new one on me!) and prayers for protection for the elevated potassium. We’re with you all the way, Ramona Mae! Love!

we are hoping that the second blood draw was better and the silence on the post is due to your family getting rest. you are in our thoughts and prayers.
