Speech Therapy Appointment

Ramona had a speech therapy appointment this morning which went well. They deal with her feeding and swallowing stuff. She was cleared this morning to try 45ml of formula by bottle once a day, instead of her usual 30ml. So that’s good news.
We also had a quick social call with one of her primary nurses, Nicole, which was really fun. Nicole says she’s looking good.
The only frustrating part was our trip to the lab. The renal team was hoping to draw blood today, but two technicians were unable to get blood, even after several attempts. So we will return to the lab tomorrow when we have her cardiology appointment and they will call the IV team to come up from the ER. Also, the first technician asked about Ramona’s condition and when I told her she started to cry. I appreciate her compassion, but it made me a little nervous about her phlebotomizing.
This is a shot from yesterday. It took a team of experts, but we managed to take them both to the park. Simon did a lot of swinging and sliding. Ramona did a lot of sleeping.
Jane.
Man, oh man. they are super cute.
How bizarre that she started to cry!
I like Simon’s hat!

She’s probably pregnant. I had great empathic waterworks when I was pregnant.
Otherwise its a bit much!
When we had our first post-surgical cardiology clinic and there was bad news about a recoarctation and high turbulence our cardiologist had a very sad and compassionate face. He is normally animated and smiley. I told him to stop the compassionate look. I did not want him to pity Wren. Dammit. He was going to be fine.
Well, all I can say is it’s a good thing you’re all in God’s hands.
Love,
Jackie
Labs are never much fun! When Joseph was 1 years old he needed to have a sweat test to test for Cystic Fibrosis. I needed to take both boys to the lab…well Joseph started screaming as soon as the tech started to work and then Alex felt like it was his job to protect his brother he started screaming as well and trying to do everything in his power to get out of the stroller! We then needed to sit in the MCDonald’s of Children’s for an hour before a blood draw. A truly long morning.
I will pray for a good vein and a wonderful tech.
So glad to see you are able to get out. It looks like Simon enjoyed the adventure!
Blessings,
Nicole
Is Ramona having any other therapy? Physical Therapy? If she does I would recommend the one that our Jane sees. It’s through Early Intervention (a state agency). I really like her & she’s in the neighborhood. Just thought I’d mention it..
Could those two be any cuter? I mean c’mon! Adorable!
our therapist has been such a wonderful supporter specifically in the beginning with her on ng feedings and being so small she still sees us weekly and we love her she still helps with izzy’s swallow issues and now is helping her with speech too. the therapist are wonderful have so many good ideas and have been very encouraging and supportive for my family. I am glad to hear that she is already in speech therapy. What lovely children!those two are beautiful! That is a lovely picture!!
