Saturday – End of Day

I spoke to Jane and Ramona had a long busy day today. Lots of visitors as more family has come into town and I know it was a busy day for Jane and Andy as well.
As Ann wrote the closure of her surgery site went well and Ramona is holding her own.
Today’s technical details:
Her oxygen saturation has been in the high 80’s – low 90’s which is good. She is totally off her epinephrine and the nitric oxide (used to dilate her arteries) is at ½ what she was getting. They are weaning her off the heart stimulants and continue to lower the amount of oxygen she is getting through the ventilator. They have increased her pain medications to help her with the increased pain from the closure of the surgery site and they check her every hour to see how she is doing with that. I am continually amazed at how God created the human body. They can check her eyes every hour and know if she is in pain by the dilation. Even in her sleep she can tell us what she is feeling. Yesterday I wrote that Ramona had an elevated white blood cell count and that she was acidodic. The good new is that her cultures came back negative which means no infection! Please continue to pray for protection against infection.
Jane and I spoke about some of the thoughts that bring them comfort. To them the most horrible thing that could have happened would have been if Ramona died on the operating table. Praise God she made it through that. Now, every moment since is a blessing to them.
The look at this time like it is a pregnancy of sorts. Ramona’s form is hidden from them, her eyes, her voice yet she is getting all she needs. Their prayer is to meet her once again, like a new born child.
The doctors and nurses have made it very clear to Jane and Andy that it will be weeks perhaps months before Ramona would be able to come home with them. This is the beginning of a marathon for all of them.
“1…and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith..” Hebrews 12:1-2
As those who love them, let us be the community that supports them along the way.
Jane and Andy are checking this web site regularly. Please feel free to make comments on any of the updates knowing it helps them to hear from you.
11Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. 1Thes 5:11
Please continue to lift them up in prayer.
I am so amazed and relieved by Ramona’s progress. It does seem like a pregnancy of sorts and like Jane said, they are getting glimpses into her resiliant person. I pray that they get to know that little person better in time.
We continue to pray without ceasing. We love all 4 of you
I love you guys! You have been on my heart and in my prayers all week. And I felt so honored to be able to spend the day with little Ramona on Thursday. What a precious gift she is. I’m in this for the long haul with all of you. God bless you today.
Love, Val
Jane and Andy;
Greetings from Nashville. I am here visiting Dave and Ang. You and Ramona and Simon have been in our thoughts and prayers. It is so great to be able to stay up-to-date on the latest with Ramona — so, many thanks to the people who love you who have made Ramona’s site possible. Please know that you are very much in my heart.
Dear Jane & Andy, Praise God for His protective hands on your precious daughter. I am so encouraged to hear the good news about Ramona’s progress in the past four days. She’s a fighter. I love you all and have been praying at every opportunity for Ramona’s healing, that God would give you a special sense of His presence with you in every moment and for strength, wisdom and rest for you both.
I love you so much,
Love Lisa
Jane and Andy:
So good to see you tonight, Jane, and finally be able to give you a hug! You mentioned yesterday on the phone that it’s hard for you to see the world going on as usual while this is happening. I want you to know that for those of us who know and love you, our lives are not going on as usual. Our lives are stopped with yours: focused on your precious little girl, worried sick, praying without ceasing, waiting anxiously for updates, going crazy wondering how we can help, angry that you’re going through this, wondering “why”, and begging God for Ramona’s healing and your peace. And our lives will not go back to normal as long as you’re going through this — we’re here beside you.
Love,
Karen
We, too, have been walking this journey with you, in prayer. We rejoice in how God is working in little Ramona’s body and will stand with you in prayer for the long hall.
Blessings to all of you,
Nicole and Andy Wetzel
Jane, Andy, Simon & Ramona,
I’m heading off to Book club in an hour or two. We are individually and collectively sending all the love, hope and good intentions we have – your way.
Jane & Andy,
As parents, our hearts ache alongside yours for Baby Ramona and we are praying that Ramona heals well and continues to improve during the many procedures to come, and that you two and Simon find peace and feel the love and support of those around you during what is an unimaginable test of your sanity, strength, emotions and faith. Our hearts are with you both; and as Ramona shows us just how strong she is, we are inspired along with you. Those who know you clearly love you, as evidenced by this wonderful website dedicated to amazing Ramona. Might it also be reassuring also to connect with parents who have endured similar challenges or who are going through a similar circumstance right now; in trying to learn more about Ramona’s condition we came across this website about a baby with a heart condition called tricuspid atresia:

We are humbled thinking of the strength and courage it would take to walk in your shoes right now. Please take time to rest and relax, as both Simon and Ramona need you to be healthy too for the long haul. Sending our love, prayers, peace, good thoughts and support.

Andy and Jane,
We continue to rally in prayer for sweet Ramona here in SC. Already God has been praised, honored and received glory because of what He is doing through her!! We pray it continues and that He heals her completely. No more surgeries, LORD – just make her whole. With a mothers aching heart I pray… Much love to you.
Karen’s sisters in Ohio are praying for all of you!
