Our little fatty weighed in at 18lbs 12oz today. She’s one day past eight months old and doing well. It’s now six weeks post-op and we are cleared to lift her up under her arms again which will give her lots of opportunities for new tricks, like bearing weight on her legs.
Other good news: Ramona finally has a speech therapist to work with her on feeding issues at home! She will start on Wednesday and meet with us every week. The timing is perfect as Ramona is just starting to demonstrate interest in rice cereal, opening her mouth big and wide when the spoon approaches. We’re hoping to explore her feeding and swallowing potential. Who knows, perhaps with this extra help she may even be able to avoid the G tube and ditch the NG. Lord knows she could stand to skip a meal these days.
Simon is still a potty champ, I’ve taken to calling him the Whiz Kid. I should try and get a picture of him on the throne. In the meantime here’s Ramona in her exersaucer. Not a favorite of her therapists but a fun new viewpoint for a nice change of pace.
Thanks for your prayers, Jane.
She looks beautiful!
We are praying for you! Catherine loves seeing Ramona and Simon’s pictures. We check in every day and love to hear the news — we celebrate when it’s happy and say extra prayers when we know it’s especially tough.
wonderful news:) keep up all the amazing work! she is beautiful!

Her eyes are so BIG and beautiful! Glad to hear the good news about the feeding issues, how wonderful if the G tube can be avoided. I will say extra prayers for this :o)
I ran into your mother-in-law, Sue, at the grocery store earlier this week and she just beamed when she spoke about Ramona and how she has been trying to eat a little. Such a proud Grandma!

“My goodness” as my mom used to say, Romana Mae, you melt me. And drum roll with loud cheering for Simon on the throne. Jane, you make me laugh and smile when your heart is light. Thank you Lord, for new mercies every morning.
Love to you all,
Jackie
Hi…we found your website and have been following your story. Our 13 month old daughter also has 22q with tetralogy. We are currently in the ICU after her 2nd heart surgery on the 25th.
Just wanted to let you know how much I admire your honesty in your entries. Being a mom that has been there/done that…I can TOTALLY relate…it is a crazy rollarcoaster ride of doctor’s appointments, scary news, joyous accomplishments and feelings that are all over the place. I love all your entries, but especially the ones relating to her weight…who would have thought we would rejoice over a couple ounces.
Just wanted to let you know unknown prayers are being sent to Jesus from another mom who knows and cares…our little babies are special little girls…and I have to believe we must be pretty special moms to love them, care for them, and fret over every little decision as much as we do.
God Bless you and your family. I know you are a very busy mom, but our story can be found at http://www.layman4.blogspot.com Just in case you ever need reassurance…that you are truly not alone in this journey.
Krista…mom of Kate
I’m jealous over Simon’s potty performance. My 2 1/2 year old, Micah screams “NOOOO!!” and runs from me when I even mention the potty…
Ramona looks FANTASTIC!!!
God Bless you guys. You know you’re doing something right when you can get a boy under the age of 3 potty trained! My Alex is a little over 2 and we’re struggling with the potty. Gabriel wasn’t fully potty trained until after his 3rd birthday. Maybe its my technique or maybe Simon needs to come over and show Alex how its done…LOL
I’m so happy for all of you especially Ramona that things are going so well. These milestones for both Ramona and Simon are so important, you and Andy must feel so proud.

Little Miss Ramona Mae-you melt my heart.
