I did not realize how happy I would be to have that tube out! I’ve been forcing myself to accept the tube and not dwell on it and haven’t even allowed myself to think about how it would feel to have her eating orally again. I have to tell you, it’s been just great.

Please extend your prayers to Bruce and Kati who lost their son, Seamus, to complications of congenital heart disease yesterday. Ramona’s little heart buddy was a very special boy and will be missed.

It looks like we’re heading home today. The discharge orders have not yet been written, but hopefully sometime this afternoon we’ll be on our way.

So the holidays are upon us. People on the roads are stressed and crazy, the clerks in the stores have lost the will to care and I can just feel all my hopes and expectations taking hold just in time to be disappointed by the way things actually turn out. Merry Christmas.

Yesterday was rough. Ramona had her regularly scheduled cardiology follow-up and I just didn’t have a good feeling about it beforehand. Her cold is still lingering and during times of activity her feet and lips have been turning blue. Not enough to warrant any action, just enough to scare me. And although I am pretty sure it’s just the cold, it was hard not to wonder if it might be related to her cardiac status.
