Tomorrow, Ramona will be coming home again. Basically the Cardiac Floor can’t do anything for her that Jane and Andy can’t do for her at home. So rather than sending her upstairs from the PICU she is headed home.
Jane and Andy are scared, freaked out, and worried about taking on Ramona’s care at home once again. They are trying to be brave and give it their best shot but will need tons of support and prayer from all of us. Things hopefully, will look a bit different than they did last time. She will be on 1 liter of Oxygen as she is now but she will still be given the methadone and Adivan medications while being weaned off them at a much slower rate.
When Jane and I were discussing tomorrow’s plan today I could hear little Mona Mae in the background chatting away. She is having a pretty good day today and has even worked up a few smiles. You go Ramona!
Ramona does have a cold now so please pray for her to get over that quickly as it is adding to her difficulites. For those of you keeping score the good news I have to report today is about weight. When they brought her into the hospital on March 2nd she weighed in at 10 lbs 2 oz and today she is up to 11 lbs 3 oz. so she is moving in the right direction. Grow Mona Grow Mona.
Ramona’s big challenge to overcome to coming home and learning to be calm, grow and thrive on her own. She has an amazing family around her to take care of her and love her but this is also her mountain to climb.
Thank you all for your continued prayers for Ramona, Jane, Andy and Simon.
Please join me in praying that God would strengthen them and bind them together in this and provide rest opportunites when they need it.
Thanks
Jen
Jane, Andy and little ones,
As I was preparing for Sunday the following song reminded me of you all. I hope that God speaks to you through it today.
When peace like a river attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll,
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to know
It is well, it is well with my soul.
Chorus
It is well with my soul,
It is well, it is well with my soul.
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ hath regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed his own blood for my soul.
For me be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live;
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life,
Thou wilt whisper thy peace to my soul.
But Lord, ’tis for thee, for thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
O trump of the angel! O voice of the Lord!
Blessed hope, blessed rest of my soul!

when izzy was coming home from the hospital I bought a cd for her, played it in the hospital and then played it at home for her so she had something that was common. They are used to the hospital and home becomes a new place, the cd helped quite a bit. Izzy had a longer taper from the meds as well, it is hard on them and us parents when they are so upset. You know your daughter and have seeked out med care when she needed it so trust your self and enjoy being home with your children. When people offer to help take them up on it so this change will be a bit easier at first. things do somehow find a way to set a pattern in your day. I also kept a journal on her eating, or crying so you have all your info when you go to the doctors.
welcome home!!!!!!!
praying for you all!
I want to lift up all the friends and family that are close enough, geographically, to lend a helping hand. Your help and support will be Jane and Andy’s lifeline!!
The 2 months that Caden was in the hospital really took a toll on our family and I don’t know how we would have survived if it hadn’t been for the prayers and help that people gave (even from people we didn’t know). The greatest help for our family was the nightly dinners that kept appearing at our home for months and the financial help that was given from our church family for in home nursing care. People were so creative in their willingness to help! Someone had a cleaning company come out and deep clean our house, laundry was offered to be taken and done, people would come entertain our older child or sit with Caden, and others who would run simple errands to the store or CVS. One of the hardest things my husband and I had to learn was to accept people’s help when they offered. But letting others help truly blesses THEM!
I wish I were closer to be able to do more than pray, but in the meantime, you do have my prayers.
I pray Father, that Jane and Andy have an abundance of help that will never run dry and that you will send along the right people to minister to and touch them in their place of need, in Jesus name.
Yay, Ramona! Great job growing! Keep it up! Praying for a smooth transition home. Lots of love, Kim
What a rollercoaster! My offer to scoop the litterbox and clean the bathrooms is still on the table. Just give me a call!
Your family remains in my thoughts and prayers.
