Two-fer

So, almost every mom I know has a story of some horrifying thing one sibling has done to another. For instance, one friend’s infant son crawled up to her covered head to toe in poo. Only it wasn’t his poo. It was donated poo from big brother that had been lovingly applied to every nook and crannie.
I have also heard that no matter what you do, once one person in the family is sick, everyone gets it. So when Simon came down with a cold two nights ago I got out the Purell and have been keeping it flowing, trying to protect Ramona. I can tell I’m getting it and Andy says he is too.
Today I was feeding Ramona her bottle in her room. Andy is working from home today but was on a conference call. Simon was roaming freely from the kitchen to Ramona’s room, which is fine because everything which could conceivably be of any harm (or any fun) is gated off. So when Simon walked up, all drooly and snotty, I was watching Ramona’s hands and feet and face carefully to make sure he wasn’t going to touch her.
Next thing I know, I look down and Simon has somehow gotten ahold of her feeding tube, has bitten open the port and is sucking out some of the contents of Ramona’s stomach. I honestly think he made it all happen in less than 15 seconds because I was watching him like a hawk.
All this to say, I am somewhat pleased to have a something-gross-you-did-to-your-sister story but am terrified that he dripped some goo out of his little petri dish of a mouth into her stomach. Also, I’m slightly concerned that he might have sucked out some of her Methadone.
Here he is in all his booger-y glory with the scooter Grammy got him for his birthday. Be praying that Mona doesn’t get sick, that’s the last thing she needs.
Jane.
That is so nasty.
Maybe he was just jealous that she gets the drugs.
I’ll pray that whatever’s going around doesn’t infect baby Mona.
I see Simon still has his mullet!:) Maybe he’ll start a new retro-mullet fad. He’s so cool.
Ew. At least her stomach is only medicines and milk. I doubt he got much of either in his 15 seconds of notoriety!
I was waiting for Simon to sneeze on her. Now that is what we do in our family: sibling sneezles.
By the way, have you had Ramona vaccinated? We had to head to the ER last night because Wren’s left leg swelled up so big after his shots. I am wondering whether we should just not mess him with any more…
That is so gross! However, if he did get germs into her stomach maybe the stomach acid will do a number on the germs. I’m more grossed out that he got stomach contents in his mouth!
OK — I squeeeeed loudly when Hans read this to me today. I’m with Andrea — completely squicked out by the idea of Simon with Ramona’s stomach contents in his mouth. I will definitely pray that Ramona is spared whatever is going around. At our house, the bug had a 75% hit rate, so if three of you are already sick, Ramona may be the one spared. In our house it was ME! Join the club Ramona!
grrrooossssss
yuck !!! her stomach acid will hopefully wipe out anything from his mouth. how gross, did he spit it out? I can’t imagine it tasting good so hopefully that was a one time thing! Izzy only tasted peas once before she knew that that was not gonna happen again! they are so fast at his age and unpredictable! Izzy is one now and just as quick!
Hahaha.. I’m laughing out loud right now, and I know I shouldn’t be, but that is like a scene from a movie! I will be praying that Ramona stays well, and that all of you are feeling better soon! I’m so happy that i’ve gotten to see you all more the last week.
Love you guys!!
nothing like a little HCl…
You know that 75% thing is really a good tip. We always have ONE who avoids it and it’s usually Henry. We call him Typhoid Henry because we think that he’s just the carrier for all this illness that enters the house.
I start pumping the EmergenC whenever people start getting sick around me which only seems to help until everyone is done being sick and then it catches up to me. Nice.
I’ll pray for health for the princess and I’m sending a little sumtin’ in the mail for Mr Mullet…goes right along with his retro look.
peace

Too late…she’s got it. Hopefully it won’t be too bad. Simon’s been a snot face for a couple days.
Well it came over the internet cause Miles has the snot face today. I wonder if the sore throat was the reason he woke up 2 nights ago crying and wouldn’t go back to sleep for like an hour…sheesh…
Praying for Monamae today…hope she recovers quickly and without any additional intervention!
Simon’s hair is awesome; I’m jealous. Forget you, Sanjaya.
That is so….ewwwww!!!!
But think of it this way. It will make for great blackmail when Simon and Ramona are older. 😉
Gotta love those toddlers and their lovely snot! I’ll pray that Ramona comes through this cold with no complications.
