We had a busy day today at Rancho Ramona. She coughed out her NG tube at about 5:00am and we’ve been truckin’ ever since.

We ordered chinese take-out last night. I always open my fortune cookie even though I rarely eat it. And even though I put absolutely no stock in anything found inside, I do usually glean something wise or at least ironic. And my lucky numbers for the week.

Jane and Andy are so grateful to everyone who has been providing delicious meals and grocery runs for their family. Thanks everyone! They’ve authorized me to start sign-ups for May, so check out the “meal schedule”:/meal-schedule/ and “grocery run”:/help-needed-grocery-runs/ pages to get in on the fun. You’ll notice that we’ve reduced the frequency of meal deliveries to twice a week, so sign up early if you don’t want to miss out!

Dude. We have been so blessed by the abundance of home cooked meals you’ve all been providing. Now we also have a real bumper crop of premium food storage containers. Pretty soon we’ll have to start parking the car on the street to make more room in our garage.

The past few days have been rough. Andy and I are tired in body and spirit. Simon has cabin fever. Ramona has been going through some Ativan withdrawal. We’re all still fighting this cold. A big thanks to the sweet soul(s) who set up a surprise Easter Egg Hunt for Simon in our backyard. He loved it. He was very excited to open up each egg and see what was inside. A few had quarters so we also got a chance to let him use his piggy bank for the first time.

We don’t know who you are, but I bet we’ll know you when we see you by the extra jewel in your crown 😉

I usually have no idea what day it is, but I know that today is Easter. And although I’m usually able to keep up with the break neck emotional pace of Holy Week, Ramona’s illness is still heavy on my heart today. I just can’t get from despair to elation in three short days the way I used to.

Simon had his very first birthday party today. Newsflash! He likes sugar.
